Kansas City Business Journal - August 31, 2007: As researchers explore the human genome to find diabetes cures, two Kansas City area companies are helping patients pluck the next best thing -- condition management -- from cyberspace.

Cerner Corp. and Browsersoft Inc. have entered the chronic disease-management space via online diabetes tools.

Lenexa, KS (August 14, 2007), Browsersoft, Inc., a Kansas-based health
information services provider, today announced the delivery of an online diabetes database and analysis system in use by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). The Browsersoft system uses OpenHRE™ to automate the process of collecting and analyzing data from healthcare providers across the State, allowing KDHE analysts to focus on improving the quality of care for Kansans with diabetes.

Feb. 14 - The Connecting for Health team, including Browsersoft Inc. using OpenHRE™, successfully demonstrated the exchange of health information through a Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) prototype. The team securely transferred healthcare data between MA-SHARE, the Indiana Health Information Exchange and the Mendocino Health Records Exchange, and local public health departments within the regions participating in the CSC consortium -- Boston, Mass., Indianapolis, Ind., and Mendocino County, Calif.

The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics has published the Functional Requirements Needed for the Initial Definition of a Nationwide Health Information Network discussion that they presented at the recent Second NHIN Forum. June 19, 2006 - The Kansas City Business Journal reports that "Browsersoft Inc. has been selected to implement a secure health records exchange system for San Antonio-based Access to Care for the Uninsured (ACU) ...".

The system is being funded through a grant from the Healthy Communities Access Program administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
